Kerrang magazine got another interesting interview with troubles genius behind
System of a Down 'Daron Malakian' You
Seem to have Invested a lot more of your emotions into 'Mezmerize' and
'Hypnotize' than you have in the past.
"I don't see that so much because I've always written lyrics for System of A
Down - I've always given a lot of my emotion and a lot of myself and my life to
the band.
These Songs do rely on emotion, though that's where I'd like to head towards in
the future. I don't want songs to depend on chunky riffs; I want them all to be
more emotional"
That Sounds like a decision to delve a little deeper into yourself. "For sure."
Are you worried about letting people in?
"No- it's natural thing, it's something I wanted to do.
it was the music that I wanted to write and the music I want to play right now."
At live shows do you worry that people in the mosh-pit won't understand how
personal these songs are?
"it makes me think that at least they're hearing something and that's a good
thing. I want to paint a painting and I want people to look at it. I don't mind
if they think completely different things about it from me."
Are there secrets in these albums that no-one else will understand?
"There are lyrics in there that only I understand and I will probably never
explain them to anybody, not even the rest of the band."
When you stand onstage and play emotional songs, is it hard to go through
those raw feelings again?
"sometimes it is. when you're having a great show, playing something like that
can be a little intense. On days when you're just getting through the sings,
you're just not as emotional. I'd be lying if I said every show was 100 per cent
all the time."
You don't seem to enjoy touring.
"Touring doesn't feel like real life, it's bubble, Then it becomes weird to
go back into real life. You have to go home for a while and just get to know
yourself."
You've said in the past, that you wont leave your house for 3 or 4 weeks
"Sometimes I have nowhere to go. Sometimes I just want to play music. When I'm
at home I really just don't want to leave."
Do you need that time alone to straighten your head out ?
"Yes,. A lot of people don't understand how hard touring is. They think its
all parties and chicks. Touring is not easy but, sometimes when I'm at home, I
want to be out on tour. The grass is always greener on the other side. I guess
I'm still trying to find a place where I'm completely happy. I'll probably never
find it either."

Aw bless him! He's a very emotional dude, I admire him for that. He doesn't really care if people think he's weird, or if he wants to stay inside. He stays in contact with his feelings, thats a good thing....*I've smoked something, please don't shout, I know its stupid*

I like that he doesn't mind if we look at his "pictures" and make up our own mind about them. I have many System songs I almost think is made for my life and situation. I like that he is not all "no, that's not what the song is about, idiots!"

The title of this thing scared me! Daron's fine! Sure, he's emotional, but that's just who he is and no one can change that. His emotions, perspectives, and odd personality are what we all know and love! Everything is alright with Daron Malakian and the best part is, it will be for a long time.
