MTV News Review of Seattle WA Show |

Ozzfest vets System of a Down, who'll be going on an indefinite hiatus following Ozzfest, arrived Wednesday on separate buses. They were the show's most distracting performers or maybe the most distracted.
At first, through the opening track "Soldier's Song" and the next four that followed including "B.Y.O.B." guitarist Daron Malakian seemed to be struggling to keep up with the rest of the band and improvising lyrics when it was his turn to bark into the microphone. None of that mattered to the rabid crowd, though, which leaped, bounced and clawed its way through the pit.
During "B.Y.O.B.," Malakian rethought the lyric, "We don't live in a fascist nation," by quickly muttering, "Yes, we do." Some fans, well aware of the band's post-Ozzfest plans, raised an eyebrow or two when, during "Lonely Day," Malakian turned and looked at frontman Serj Tankian as he sang, "Such a lonely day, hanging out with the band/ This mother----er, I can't stand."
System appeared bored at the beginning of the set, but by the end, they worked the crowd into an abusive mob of fist-pumping fanatics with "Sugar" and other songs. Tankian danced around goofily with his eyes closed through "Hypnotize" while Malakian mounted his guitar.

i don't like how MTV reviews bands... they only give good one's out to the one's that seem to be young and "hip" i think this review is highly unreliable, performance wise, because we all know what kind of bad ass show SOAD puts on.

Can they just dump Daron already and get Buckethead to play guitar for the band already?

Forget MTV, forget critics, forget what anyone else thinks. If you perosnally like System of a Down, then that's what matters. And we like System of a Down!

Thats an odd review actually. I don't think you fully understand the band and their antics enough to appreciate what was going on, to therefore, write a descent review. plus a setlist would have been nice...but oh well, and serjsoad93, system is who they are because of daron and his cracked out fuckin self. Not EVEN to say that he is ALL of why they are as awesome as they are, fuck no, thats because of each member and the heart they put into this, you people need to open your minds and see this, they are people, different from me and you and very unique all round. i can't wait another moment to see them in conc. thanks for the review sugar_buzz!

Seeing "Soldier's Song" instead of "Soldier Side" already made me not trust that review. Stupid MTV. Buckethead is great, but Daron can not be replaced, he helps make System of a Down.
