Montreal, Can August 02 2006 Review
Posted by ang+serj on Friday, August 04, 2006 - 10:51 AM

Just got back from Montreal. ( System was Amazing ) The concert was well worth the trip from New Jersey. got to the venue around 2pm. It was hot around 92 degrees. About a half hour later it started to pour they finally let us pasted the gates around 4:25pm. We got right in front.
5:45pm Bad Acid Trip started playing 15min early. They wear very good and lead singer of Bad Acid Trip Dirk thank each of the members of SOAD for all their support in helping them with their careers. Norma Jean well didn't like them. Unearth gave more energy to the crowd I liked them.

Next Hatebreed was playing this one a kid through mud which landed on the stage just missing the lead singer didn't like them. A7X was a crowd pleaser. And I really liked the cover of the song Walk by Dime Bag. A lot of people that wear in the front got pushed back cause it was so crowded people were going nuts, trying to get to the front before System started their set.

Now for System Of A Down they started playing at around 9:30pm. And than it started raining again. They play 'Soldier Side-Intro' with Daron alone in the spotlight crowd was singing along. He sounded fuckin awesome. The crowd went nuts when System started to play 'Attack'. I got caught in a moshpit for Attack, B.Y.O.B, and Revenga. The Sound was perfect. I windup by the control tent about 40 feet from the stage.

I could see the stage real well. Next song was 'Needles' in the middle of the song before ( I'm sitting in my room ) Daron turned his backside to the crowd and pulled an imaginary tapeworm out of his ass. Which was ofcourse very funny.

The rain really started to come down during 'Deer Dance' and the rest of the concert. By this time people were singing
more louder.
Serj sang Chop Suey! So well he hit every note perfectly. Lonely Day was to hear live in person. Kill Rock 'N' Roll sounded even better then it did at last years concert in New Jersey. I Love that they played Old School Hollywood and Radio/Video it was played so well.
Violent Pornography Intro had Daron making a commentary on how people should be civilized. Cigaro Intro ruled same with the song it self.
Hypnotize, this was the first time I've herd it live in person. Serj sounded as clear and on key from the beginning to end of the concert.
Lost In Hollywood, What can I say. It takes you away all that songs do. During Question Serj and Daron were so perfect on guitar so beautiful. Shavo as always has so much energy running around, Shavo plays his parts so
well all the time.
War? was next I say a classic. John played so awesome all of the concert. John also had a solo that was so amazing and it was a little over 14 seconds. After the Sultans Of Swing Intro to Aerials ( We are
the System - We are the System Of A Down ).
Aerials my favorite. This song will always be great live.

One of the surprises of this concert was them playing 'Holy Mountains' which has not been played that much this
tour. The crowd Love it, and so did I. There was several flashes of lighting during Toxicity and Sugar. To think afterwards we were standing holding a metal barricade fence ( We Me and my mom.) Singing our hearts out
and at any time we could have been struck by lighting.

If I were stroked I would have died happy I got to see my favorite band again. When Sugar came next, I was sad because I knew this is the last song of the concert. Serj sings ( No Light, No Music, Just
Ice Cream I Licked Everyone ) that was so funny. This was a awesome show Serj, Daron, John, and Shavo were on that night I can't wait for more System Of A Down concerts.

Oh I almost forgot the mud. People were throwing it, rolling in it and dancing on it and the crowd surfing covered in mud. A lot of people and me got hit with mud to.

Here's the set list for the amazing concert:

1. Soldier Side-Intro
2. Attack

So, your MOM was there with you, in the moshpit, in the rain and the mud and the lightning, to watch System. How cool is that?

Woohoo! I was there. Sad I couldn't stay in the front. At one point after Sugar Serj tried to speak french!!: "Merci beau... b.. bien.." (with a big accent) loll, at least he tried. Another thing that marked me was when the light was all on Daron and all the moths and butterflies were flying around him.

I was there too, about 20 feet in front of the stage, it was great. Better than the last summer tour. It was so funny when the lead guitarist of A7X fell during his solo, the guitarist of Unearth was pretty drunk and so funny. Harry Perry was there too with the guys. During "Old School Hollywood", Daron sang "Don't you touch my TITS" instead of "Don't you touch my belt". I don't if people at the show noticed that Shavo let someone play his bass for about 10 seconds. I was sad beacause they didn't play more songs for Montreal because it was their show not the Ozzfest. People in the crowd were all there for SOAD.

I forgot to say when Daron said "Montreal is always great for System of a Down. We are really happy to be here tonight." or something like that. Serj said "What a beautiful audience". A least they were really happy and so energetic for the last time playing at Montreal and I really appreciate.

I didn't heard Serj saying Merci beau bien :( . I'm not very tall so I didn't see the stage really well. It was fuckin great, I loved the rain and mud .. *sorry I'M not speaking english as a first language*

It was cute when Daron said "Choubidouwabidouwamamamiamamamiam" or something

like that. Great show :)

This was my first ''real'' show and it fuckin rocks!!! I think the pouring rain just gave more energie to the crowd like:''We're fuckin wet so let's just enjoy the show!!" I had to wash my shoes 3 times to take off all the mud and still they are brownish (damn myself why did I worn yellow shoes to that show!)

Anyway it was awesome and I can't wait to see them another time. =D

mom45: My mom's always with me when I see a concert. Firstly, I'm still a minor, but we also enjoy the same music. ... Wow. My parents are both younger than Serj, and I'm 16. o_O
