Presently, RZA is readying the release of Digi Snacks, his third album in the
Bobby Digital series, geared up for July 1st release [click to read]. In
preparation for the Koch Records release, RZA shot a video for the album's first
single, "U Can't Stop Me Now."
The song, which features Inspectah Deck, is inspired by Afrika Bambaataa's
"Renegades of Funk," using familiar a sample and chorus that's been interpolated
by artists ranging from Ill Bill to Mos Def. The lyrics to the song chronicle
the sacrifices made for RZA's dream, including buying his first SP-12 sampler
for $500, prompting the producer's illustrious career.
Another video was shot for "Drama," the single's B-side, featuring Monk. The
video features a cameo by Shavo from the band System of A Down, a
collaborator of RZA. The videos were directed by Rage (Busta Rhymes, The Game,
Jim Jones) and Todd Angkasuwan (Styles P, AZ, KRS-ONE & Marley Marl)
respectively.
