According to 105.1 Channel Q
System of a Down rocker Daron Malakian is disillusioned with Hollywood, insisting the glamorous image hides a dark side.
The singer, who has born and raised in the star-studded city, claims problems are caused by people who move to Los Angeles and end up betraying others to survive
He says, "The town is a sad story in a lot of ways. When I tell anybody I was born in Hollywood, they go 'Wow! Really?' Yeah really, and it was a shittty neighborhood. It's really not the greatest place to raise your children."
"That LA life usually exists in people who aren't from LA and that's the reason they're so backstabbing." "They know they're coming to a town where they'll get eaten if they don't eat someone else first. I stay away from it."
On the other hand contactmusic.com has this small article about System of a down success
US rock band SYSTEM OF A DOWN are determined to stay humble despite the band's huge success. The long-haired MESMERISE stars never expected such a meteoric rise to fame, but their philosophy is to keep improving and always value their loyal fans. Guitarist and vocalist DARON MALAKIAN says, "I probably didn't think it would get to the point where we're at now. "I try to keep our mental state and our hunger the same as we had, never being satisfied, always building. "When a bunch of people show up just for us, I'm still blown away by it and I don't take it lightly. All it makes me feel is very lucky."
