System will perform Ozzfest and SOULS 2006
Tours & Live Concerts News & Updates
Posted by ZAk on Saturday, March 04, 2006 - 09:18 PM

System of a Down will perform Ozzfest this year which will take a place in Pittsburgh's Post Gazette Pavilion on July 25, 2006.

Also the band will announce the 4th "SOULS" benefit concert that SYSTEM OF A DOWN has organized and headlined, and as before, the four band members, Serj Tankian, Daron Malakian, Shavo Odadjian and John Dolmayan, will earmark the proceeds from "Souls, 2006" to benefit organizations that work to eradicate genocides across the globe.

This includes the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA), an organization that supports legislation in the U.S. Congress to recognize the Armenian Genocide that was perpetrated by the Ottoman Empire during World War 1.

During this first genocide of the 20th century, 1.5 million Armenians were annihilated and hundreds of thousands deported from their ancient homeland. April 24th was chosen as the date for the concert as this year, it commemorates the 90th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

SOULS 2006 will be preformed on April 23rd, stay tuned to the official Site on Monday, for more details about where it will be performed along with others Tour dates.

UPDATE: The official site has confirmed it, and SOUL 2006 will be held in 'the Greek Theatre' in Los Angeles, CA.

Pre-sale tickets for Souls go on sale through systemofadown.com on Thursday, March 9th and the public on-sale is Saturday, March 11th at 10am PST. Details for the pre-sale will be announced on Wednesday, so stay close.

Also, Serj Tankian made 'SOULS Mission Statement' on the official site:

"Our mission is end the denial of the Armenian Genocide, secure justice for this crime, and - in so doing - help break the worldwide cycle of genocide. Our aim is to magnify public awareness of the failure of the U.S. Congress and successive Administrations to recognize the first genocide of the 20th Century - even as we fight to end the first genocide of the 21st Century taking place today in the Darfur region of Sudan. Together, we are committed to working toward a world that unites to stop genocide, punishes its perpetrators, and rejects its denial - a world without genocide.

In a world dominated by manufactured material desires and controlled coercions of information, it is essential to expose the despicable violations of basic human rights that have tainted world history, and continue to scar the present on a daily basis. We are not simply asking for the recognition of an event that has been tormenting the Armenian people for the last 91 years. Today, different forms of genocide are raping lives and minds… some in the form of 20,000-ton bombs that touch down only to shoot thousands of shreds of shrapnel in every direction and some in the form of educational systems that impose ignorance on global populations. One way or the other, we need to mobilize our hearts, utilize our minds, and open our eyes to the atrocities that have been, and continue to be, obscured from our view. "

UPDATE  March 08: Accordgin to Pittsburgh's modern rock commercial station "105.9 The X" this year's Ozzfest will be hitting Pittsburgh's Post Gazette Pavilion on July 25, 2006

System of a Down and Disturbed will be featured in two of the top main-stage slots. The Ozzfest organizers are expected to announce the official lineup for this year's festival later this week.

Almost Acoustic Christmas Review
Tours & Live Concerts News & Updates

Talk about putting on a show! Wow, System of a Down did just that on December 10th 2005 at The Gibson Amphitheater or better known as The Universal Amphitheater. I have been to many of Systems concerts but this show was something to remember. They started out their set with “Attack” a new hit from their recently released album Hypnotize and from then on it was just a blur.

System of a Down rocked the audience with a whopping hour and a half set playing a combination of songs from Hypnotize, Mezmerize, Toxicity, Steal this Album and System of a Down. I could say one thing for sure; there was a lot of brotherly love and respect on stage between Serj, Daron, John and Shavo on this night. The fans were going wild as well as SOAD.
